Pine Needle Basket

Cost:   member  $70;  non-member $ 100
Materials Fee:  $10 Fees payable to instructor in cash on first day of class
Level: Beginning and up
Maximum # of students: 15

Participants will wrap 9 needles with waxed linen (their choice of color) for 2.5 inches.  Then the coiled needles will be bent to form a round or oblong circle to start coiling the rest of their creation.  If they would like to start the basket with a agate slice that is glued to a piece of vinyl I will furnish it.  Since the agate slices are different colors, I suggest they use black waxed linen.

About the instructor:
Gary Terlisner has been making baskets for about 24 years.  He started with reed as he thought that was the only way to make baskets.  Later, he was introduced to other types such as birch bark, painted paper, gourds and pine needle baskets.  Pine needle baskets have become his passion as it is free form and he can let his imagination go wild.

Participants may register at the monthly meeting, electronically from the website using PayPal, or by snail mail to Tucson Handweavers and Spinners Guild, PO Box 64355, Tucson AZ 85728.  Registrants receive full refund if Workshop is cancelled by THSG. Cancellations received 14 days prior to registration deadline receive full tuition, refund less $10 cancellation fee. Cancellations received 8-13 days prior to registration deadline receive 50% refund. No refunds for cancellations received 7 days or less prior to registration deadline. Cancelations must be in writing and sent to workshops@thsg.org.   Please direct any questions to workshops@thgs.org.
