Catching the Desert Sun in Three Airy Nuno Scarf Techniques

In this ambitious 3-day workshop, the goal for each day will be to felt 1 airy, light-weight Nuno scarf using varying fibers and light-weight silks with different layouts and felting techniques. The Grand Finale will be the different coloring methods: 3 Shibori dyeing methods and Shibori over-dyeing techniques to create Nuno scarves which will catch and reflect the Desert Sun.

About the instructor:

German born, Renate Maile-Moskowitz made the nearly extinct techniques of felt making and silk/sericulture production an early research and teaching pursuit.  A Fulbright Scholarship in Dance brought her to the US where new venues surfaced to apply and fuse her experiences and interests in unique Fiber, Textile, and Costume fields.  Her long standing devotion to broaden Felt and Silk’s public awareness, and its recognition as textile art form, have gained her global recognition and many awards.  Her teaching methods and personal creations have led the way on novel, eclectic, and profoundly specialized techniques along with adaptations from many ancient, traditional, and personalized felting customs.

Participants may register at the monthly meeting, electronically from the website using PayPal, or by snail mail to Tucson Handweavers and Spinners Guild, PO Box 64355, Tucson AZ 85728. Registrants receive full refund if Workshop is cancelled by THSG. Cancellations received 14 days prior to registration deadline receive full tuition, refund less $10 cancellation fee. Cancellations received 8-13 days prior to registration deadline receive 50% refund. No refunds for cancellations received 7 days or less prior to registration deadline. Cancelations must be in writing and sent to workshops@thsg.org. Please direct any questions to workshops@thgs.org.
