Members Helping Members with Weaving

On November 23, 2024, members of the Weaving (Porrey Cross) Study Group are offering two workshops.  These are free and open to members of the Guild.   They will be in the Weeks Room.  Fill out the forms below to sign up for one or both.

From 9 am to noon, with Diann Porter

Diann will help members with warping and starting to weave on a rigid heddle loom or an inkle loom.  This is for you if you have an old little loom on a shelf in a closet and have forgotten how to use it, or if you have a new loom and want to know how to use it.  You are also welcome if you just want to learn if you might be interested in a little loom.  Limit 6.

Warping Little Looms

From 1 pm to 4 pm, with Scanlon Romer

This workshop is intended to help members to understand how to read weaving drafts. We will begin with common modern drafts and their various features. Then we will explore older style drafts. We will also briefly explore two common computerized draft design systems. At the end of the workshop, we will spend a few minutes on project planning.  Limit 12.
